Where to Practice Outdoor Sports in Rio
1. Aterro do Flamengo
Located between downtown and the South Zone, the Aterro is a pleasant area with beautiful views. It gets busier on weekends.
Activities: walking, running, cycling, soccer, volleyball, yoga, slackline, and skateboarding.

2. Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon
Surrounded by mountains and iconic neighborhoods, the Lagoon is a popular spot for both athletes and families.
Activities: running, biking, roller skating, rowing, stand up paddle, and pedal boats.
Highlights: 7.5 km track around the lagoon, kiosks, playgrounds, and equipment rentals.
3. Copacabana and Leme Beaches
A classic Rio setting, with a lively and energetic beachfront.
Activities: volleyball, footvolley, “altinha”, running, swimming, and functional training.

4. Ipanema and Leblon Beaches

5. Parque Lage

6. Cláudio Coutinho Path (Urca)
Also known as Caminho do Bem-Te-Vi, it runs along the base of Sugarloaf Mountain.

7. Tijuca Forest
The largest urban tropical forest in the world is a true playground for adventurers.
Activities: hiking, trail running, climbing, mountain biking, and rappelling.
